About the Role

Speech recognition models are getting bigger, but practitioners need something smaller. As a Research Engineer for Efficient Speech Recognition, you will work on a 3-6 month research project investigating how state-of-the-art speech models can be made more accessible to the open-source community.

This is a hybrid open-source / open-science role at the intersection of engineering and science. This project will be closely integrated into existing open-source libraries, such as Transformers and Datasets, to promote reproducibility and transparency for the speech community. The tools you build will serve as a platform for the future of speech recognition research. The project will conclude with the opportunity to submit a paper at a top-tier Speech conference (INTERSPEECH, ICASSP).

You will work in the open-source team, where you'll get to foster one of the most active machine learning communities. You'll interact with Researchers, ML practitioners and Data Scientists on a daily basis, discussing issues related to your research and the wider ML community.

About you

If you love open-source, are passionate about making speech recognition technology more accessible, and view sharing your work with the research community as a necessity, then we can't wait to see your application!

You should have experience running research experiments, be well-versed in PyTorch or an equivalent major deep learning framework, and have some experience with open-source ML libraries.

Preferred Location

Ideally, you are based in Paris, but we are open to remote work for the right candidate.
