Meta is hiring a Research Scientist Intern, AI Machine Learning Computer Vision (PhD)

The AI Research for Monetization teams are part of the AI Innovation Center for Ads and Business Products (Meta AI). We incubate and integrate state-of-the-art AI/ML advancements and best practices into the Ads products, helping these products hit their long-term and company-critical goals. Partnering with the product and infrastructure teams, we have contributed over $30B cumulative value for the company in the past two years.

This team works on a wide variety of Content ML areas in the ads space, including creative transformation, personalization and generation for Meta advertisers, content signals and joint model training for ads ranking and supply etc.

For AI Creatives, we leverage SOTA content generation and content transformation technologies (e.g. Generative AI, BART) to automate Ads creation processes for our advertisers. Examples include turning 2D images to 3D animation, finding the best music to pair with videos, generating images based on text input etc. For Ads Ranking and Ads Supply, we employ large scale content understanding models (e.g. XLM-R, ViT, multimodal research) to extract salient signals for personalized ads ranking and delivery.

• Perform research to advance the science and technology of machine learning
• Devise better data-driven models of human behavior
• Contribute research published to top-tier conferences, or that can be applied to Facebook product development

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Multimodal Vision + Natural Language Processing, Image Generation, or similar
• Experience with Python, C++, Java or other related language
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, SIGGRAPH, etc.
• Experience with ML areas such as computer vision
• Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
• Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
• Strong interest in theoretical and empirical research and for answering hard questions with research
• Experience building systems based on content understanding and content generation ML methods
• Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub)
• Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
• Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
